NOC of Spain, COE

The COE was created in 1912 and its main aim is to contribute to promoting and spreading Olympic ideals.

The Spanish Olympic Committee is a private, not-for-profit organisation, created in 1912 and governed by its own laws and regulations, in line with the principles and rules of the International Olympic Committee. The Spanish Olympic Committee has a General Assembly, an Executive Committee and numerous themed commissions: for medical issues, women and sport, athletes, etc.

The Spanish Olympic Committee has 60 sports federations, including 30 Olympic federations, totalling 9,141 athletes.

Its main aim is to contribute to promoting and spreading Olympic ideals. As such, the Spanish National Olympic Committee organises various operations, such as "Todos Olimpicos", "Heroes Olimpicos" and “Olympic Day”.

The two first projects, which are organised twice a year, both target schoolchildren aged from 8 to 9 years old and both aim at promoting Olympic history and values. At this occasion, a kind of theatre play is performed by the Olympic athletes. The "Olympic Day” is organised once a year and several sports initiations are organised in public places.

The COE withdrew from the project "Sport for Everyone" on the 16th of October.
