NOC of Lithuania, LNOC

The LNOC was created in 1924 and contributes to the development of the country's Olympic and Paralympic sports programme. It actively contributes to the development of the country's Olympic and Paralympic sports programme.

In line with specific criteria, the LNOC supports 36 Lithuanian Olympic federations. Federations with Olympic-medallist members receive extra aid and financial support for their other sports programmes.

The LNOC also subsidises the Olympic education programme, the Lithuanian Olympic Academy, the Paralympic Committee and other Olympic organisations, as well as providing some of the funding for various programmes and sports events.

The LNOC also supports the development of the scientific and medical programme, and safeguards the history of Olympism. The organisation cooperates with various government and public institutions to protect the interests of athletes, coaches, the medical team and Olympians. It also comes up with proposals to tighten and improve laws on sport.

The LNOC organises two annual events: "Snow Day" and "Olympic Day". "Snow Day", which was launched in 2014, is devoted to winter sports. The aim is to encourage as many people as possible to take part in winter sports, promote Olympic ideals and raise awareness on the history of the Olympics. Special attention is paid to sport and the environment. "Olympic Day" is an annual event organised in the heart of Vilnius. It includes an Olympic torch-lighting ceremony at Gediminas Hill, a procession with the torch, an introduction to different sports, educational activities and an awards ceremony. 2014 marked the 25th anniversary of Olympic Day in Lithuania.
